Okay, chicken burgers… meh. Grilled chicken burgers with jalapeno, cilantro, pepper jack cheese, and spices… all day long!
This recipe has become a weekly staple for us this grilling season. Everyone in my family loves them, and they are a great healthy alternative to the regular greasy cheeseburger. I’ve had to double my original recipe because everyone in my house wants more than one. And, don’t let the seasoning fool you. This burger actually isn’t that spicy. It’s just what the bland white meat needs to hold its own. If you want more spice, add extra jalapeno and cayenne pepper. I’m excited for you to try this one out! Happy grilling, friends!
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds ground turkey or chicken
One diced jalapeno
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
1/2 bunch cilantro, stems removed and chopped
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp oregano
1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese plus more for toppings
Salt and pepper
DIRECTIONS
Prepare outdoor grill to medium heat.
In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients and mix. I suggest using your hands to incorporate all of the ingredients together until well blended. Form six patties from the mixture making sure they are compact before placing them on the grill. Grill on each side for about 5-6 minutes or until the chicken reaches at least 165 degrees and is no longer pink. Top with extra cheese and serve on a bun with your favorite toppings or over a salad with lettuce and avocado. Enjoy!
