Sometimes, I just don’t have the words.

I sit down to write and nothing… I sit down to pray, and my heart is overwhelmed, but the words just don’t come.

Being one who always seems to be on the move and likes to be productive, this is something that is challenging to me…  almost feeling like failure or a waste of time. However, I have come to realize that this is okay.  Normal even.

There is no failure in just being.  Just being present in prayer… just being present in the moment.

During these times, I realize that the loss of words might be forcing me to a place that I tend not to go naturally… the quiet.

“Be still.”  Those words are present in the bible for a reason.  We can’t listen while we are talking.  We can’t learn if we are only voicing our mind.  We can’t let the words that God needs us to hear be heard when we are talking over His whispering voice.

So when the words don’t come, don’t move on.  Settle in.  Listen in.  Just give yourself permission to “be still.” It’s more than okay to rest in the quiet. HLLF –
