Cheers to the teachers.

The wheels are falling off the wagon. Yesterday afternoon, we started doing taste tests to see if the kids like HoHo’s or Twinkies better. As they closed their eyes and I shoved pieces into their mouths like it was wedding cake it occurred to me…these kids need to go back to school. I am force feeding pre-packaged desserts for my own entertainment…it’s time to learn something of value, people.

As I laid out the socks and shoes for my kids to go back to school, I imagined my kids’ teachers doing the same for their kids…and then they are tasked with getting my Twinkie and HoHo studying people back in shape as well.

It made me start to think about teacher gifts…maybe it’s a gift card to a coffee place or somewhere they can pick their family up dinner, maybe a new notebook or some fresh pens to brighten their days. I am going to be pre-ordering this book for Christmas gifts. Let’s be mindful of how we can be in this together, of how we can be supportive of each other and cheer on the people who are pouring into our people.

Let’s make it a great year…together.

Here is a list of some quick and easy things your kids’ teachers may love:

Never underestimate the value of your words. Shoot them an email, write them a post-it. Let them know how much you appreciate them pouring into the hearts of the kids you are sending into their classroom. Teachers know their profession is a labor of love, and you are grateful for what they are doing…so let them know.

Happy Back to School!
