My kids ask me the same question almost every day, “Mom, can I tell you something?”
I have made it a thing to always respond the same way every time, “Always.”
It’s to the point that after Ella asks me that question, she then giggles after my response and says, “I knew you would say that!”
That’s my goal.
I want my kids, while they are little, to get into the habit of telling me everything. And they do because they are little and little kiddos are great like that. 🙂 It’s always something silly or something that they see as a huge deal, which really isn’t. The topics will change, but I want them to know that forever, no matter what, they can “always” tell me the good, the bad, the ugly, and I will be there to listen.
Jesus also does the same with us.
He wants us to tell him everything. If we lean in and whisper, “Can I tell you something?” His response will forever be “Always.”
When my kids tell me their secrets, confessions, and thoughts, they feel better. As adults, when we talk to God about our secrets, confessions, hopes, dreams, fears, and mistakes, guess what. We feel better.
He wants us to come to Him, and He’s ready for whatever you have to say. Take advantage of the loving God who wants to have an honest and real conversation with you. He is always there and ready.
