You guys, I have an announcement to make: May is almost over and you are still alive.
Confetti guns, bring on the parade…or a cup of coffee and a massage chair.
This week as I was putting curlers in my daughter’s hair so it could withstand the three outfit and event changes of the day, I used my Mother’s Day card to buffer the space between the curler and her ear as she screamed in pain. It was the perfect picture of the craziness that is May, and yet as I put the curlers away last night, I anticipated braiding her wet pool hair and my heart cried out…June!
Thank you Jesus, it is almost June, when summer is new, the pool is exciting, and the lightning bugs seem more prevalent than usual.
June. When the nights will be longer and we won’t be sitting in a school gymnasium, we will be on a walk or playing kickball in the yard.
June. When the potted flowers are still alive and we still like them.
June to me is hope…hope that there are good things ahead no matter what May has thrown your way. May might have just been clutter, or May could have presented you with a big bomb of an issue you least expected.
Regardless, today breathe in the kindness of God in the fresh air. Grasp the joy that is reflected on your kids’ face as they jump off the diving board. Listen to the sweetness of the bird who happily chirps without a care in the world. Take in that moment; experience the goodness of our God.
My friends, June is nearly here. There are good things ahead!
