Okay, we don’t know when our kids will go back to school or how we are going to teach them, and if we let our minds wander, we will start to wonder about potentially crazy scenarios.

So what should we do?

  • Do the wise things.
    • Wash your hands, follow the guidelines.
  • Consider what you are obsessing over. Write it down.
    • Is it germs or your schedule? Your finances or your job? Your kids’ activities or their schooling? Make a list.
    • Hand those things over to God. One-by-one. Surrender them. Release them. God I give You the schedule over the next few months. Show me how to do today. God, I don’t know what this does for my job right now, God I give it to You. Show me how to do today. God, I don’t know how to keep us healthy. Show me how to do today.
    • Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you. It’s easy to say. Now one-by-one, hand them over.
  • Fill your eyes and ears with good things.
    • Watch the news, to be informed…then click it off and turn on some hope.
    • There will be a lot of togetherness these next few weeks, give yourself a mental break with your headphones, cue up your Audible, and start listening to some podcasts.
    • If I were to suggest two books, I would recommend Get Out Of Your Head, by Jennie Allen and My Heart, By Julie Manning….I just finished My Heart and wow she has some beautiful truths that would change everything if we asked God to help us live by them.
    • Cue up a podcast: Jennie Allen’s Made for This or Jamie Ivey’s Happy Hour.
    • Fight for your mind. Listen to good things.
  • Join our Virtual Bible Study
    • Click here to find out how. The Zoom group begins on Monday, March 23rd at 8:30pm CST. Click here and we will tell you how to sign up & more about the study!
  • Start a prayer routine.
    • Before you roll your eyes…take some sheets of computer paper and tape them to the walls of your closet.
    • Get some Post-it’s and write God what you are asking for. Write down your worries, tape them to your wall, go to that spot every day, and ask God. Big and small. It could be as simple as “give me the capacity to be with my kids all day today.” Ask. Over and Over.
    • The Creator of the universe is listening. If His power is deployed by our prayers, we want to be asking.
  • Open up Psalms. Read one every day.
    • Watch how David cried out to God and how God protected Him. You can read on the Bible App. Try the NLT translation. It may be easier to understand. I do believe God speaks through His Word and that He will speak to you. Give it a try. It’s not going to hurt anything.

There are better days ahead. Let the uncertainty change you. Let it shore up when you are placing your hope and let it teach you how to live.
